For days, I’ve grappled with an appropriate response to the state of things and then wrestled with the simple possibility that my words here may just heard as one more clang in the cymbal of noise that is drowning out the still quiet voice of God that is calling out to us.
We come from a long line of leavers who have left God in pursuit of whatever they deemed necessary for their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. We have an entire lineage of family members who forsook their birthright in the upside down kingdom for the allure of power, safety, wealth, comfort, privilege, and pleasure promised in every thing man constructed. Just start in Genesis and work your way through the entire bible. Then take a good long look at modern day history trace humanity all the way to present day.
We have left God by making alliances with men who have promised us the world because we’ve been afraid of kings and kingdoms that hold no dominion over us.
May He humble us.
May He lovingly give us over to ourselves that we might know the weight of our humanity and repent from our idol making. May He give us eyes to see the enemy prowling about and wake us up to our own participation in feeding the beast. May He return us to our posts as stewards of His creation, that we might serve all of humanity and defend her with as much fervor as we have sought to protect ourselves from her.
And may God forgive us and restore us to Himself, for we do not know what we have done and continue to do.
