As the world sends itself into a tizzy of shopping and wrapping, may we, the bride of Christ, choose to slow and savor,
And may we embrace the quiet way Christ slipped into this world.
May we center our crazy on the mess of the manger,
Because really, we’re all a mess,
In need of that baby.
May we come close and bow low and worship the One who came to save us.
And my favorite reads and listens of the week~
Becca Stanley: A Thrill of Hope This girl lives my life in Atlanta and I am always blessed by the way she shares her heart for her neighborhood. I find myself in her words all the time.
Ashley Larkin: You Might Need This In the Days Before Christmas I read this while standing in the check out line at Wal-Mart and my eyes opened fresh to the people next to me in line. I love this lady’s humility.
Jessee Carey for Relevant Magazine: 7 Faith Stories That Shaped 2013 Great recap of seven top news stories that shaped the Church, Christian culture and faith in the past year. Great read.
Liz McEwan: One Small Change: Listen Anyway The struggles of people living elsewhere can remain behind closed doors and privacy fences but, in the city, there is no hiding. And this I know to be true.
Brene Brown: The Power of Empathy: Short, two-minute video that will have you nodding your head. And if you have never read any books by Brene Brown, you should. My 2 favorites are Daring Greatly and The Gifts of Imperfection.
This made me cry and has been on repeat for hours the last two weeks.
And the winner of that awesome print from Naptime Diaries is commenter #7, Pat S. (you can thank Thad for randomly choosing your number!) Email me your address at loribrownharris (at) yahoo (dot) com and I’ll get it shipped right after Christmas! Naptime Diaries is closed up until after the holidays. I love the responses you guys gave, the way you let me see you in your place. You make we want to keep at it here in Rocky Mount. Much love to you!
