We’ve been here, smack dab in the middle of my hometown, for 19 months.
He came here in a blaze of glory and I came here dragging my feet and whining all the way. Our kids…well, they came here with no choice.
You could say we’ve built a home because we’ve renovated a house, but really, we’re just beginning to make this place our home. We’ve spent months believing the lie that we’ve been brought here to die…
That the Lord has seen fit to put us to pasture.
Everyone says it.
They say this place is dying.
That it is crumpling before our very eyes.
That we are in decline.
We use snide remarks and caddy comments and we bat our lashes in such a way as to agree with them.
“They’re right. We are dying,” we say.
We’ve bought the lie that God has forgotten about our city- the very place we call home.
We’ve forgotten that the Author of the greatest story of all time, is still writing His story.
We’ve forgotten that He is the Master storyteller and that He is about weaving our circumstances into a grand story that will bring glory to Himself.
We’re in the midst of a story that God is still writing and we’ve simply forgotten that He has invited us into the storytelling.
May we rise to meet Him as He pens His story across our city.
I am linking up with Lisa Jo for her Five Minute Friday. Her prompt today is Story ( the one I suggested!!!!) and as I prepared to log off tonight I saw that she had chosen my prompt!!! I had to write on it, for 5 minutes flat with no editing, and y’all, my eyes were blinking really hard as I wrote this post. Give me some grace, please. It’s a rough one!
