Today’s Prompt: Brave
We sit in a sloppy circle and balance fruit and chocolate on our knees and I pass napkins like tissues.
We’re a new family, still learning how to dance with authenticity, still afraid to strip down to our skivvies.
Each of us hold our own corner of the room and we’re safe in our corners and in an instant I’m done with being safe.
And I’m done with letting my family blend in with their chairs and cross their arms and reject love.
So I use words like honey and I start with one sister. I tell her everything I love about her. I tell her how I see God working in her life. I tell her how much she blesses our family. And then I thank her.
And I tell her how much I love her.
We go around in a circle and every sister pours honey on another.
For hours, we pour honey and we cry and the one being loved on is not allowed to talk or leave the circle or reject our gift.
She has to receive it, no matter how hard it is to sit and hear the things she doesn’t believe about herself.
She has to let us love her, if even for just a few minutes.
Being able to receive love…Brave?
