It’s really a mystery.
The way God spins things into motion and He speaks and things happen and we stand in awe, wondering all the while what He is up to and why He chooses to do the things He does.
We gathered around our dinner table last night and it was a surreal kind of moment. The 3 boys at one table and the rest of us at another. We passed around napkins and pizza and grinned at each other because we have secrets that only we share. We laughed and shared the excitement of a new baby that will be coming in April. A baby that I have longed to hear about and one that one mama has prayed for a long time. Sheer joy.
Six years ago, I would never have imagined that meeting one mom at a Mother of Preschoolers event would have been such a divine encounter.
What we thought was just coffee and friendship and MOPS, turned into much more. This friend was my safe place and my extra set of hands when I had no family nearby. She baked and loved antiques and loved my kiddos, even when they were still babies. Her house felt like home to all of us. Little did we know that our husbands would love each other, too and that all of us would mesh together in a way that only God can make happen.
And we would have never imagined that what God began in Dallas, He would make more complete in North Carolina.
But God did.
He planned it all.
He knit our hearts together in Dallas knowing that we would both be here, in North Carolina, today.
He knew He wasn’t finished with us, the two families with such plain last names. The families that He knew would need some friends who could “remember when’ together and fill each others’ cups a little.
As they gathered their things to head back to Cary, I couldn’t help but stand in awe of the way God had ordained every step of our lives to bring us to this place.
To bring us home, in every sense of the word.
