Can you feel it?
It’s coming, with each cooler morning and with each earlier sunset.
God’s gift of change: Autumn.
And change is good.
I feel the urge to make soup and pull out the throw blankets. The kids have pulled out their cowboy boots. Josiah even pulled on a pair of jeans this morning and I grinned.
The boxes of new curriculum have starting arriving. New markers and pencils fill jars on the bookshelf. Maps and timelines are hung. New chore charts and daily schedules are waiting to be implemented over the next couple of weeks. Two boys in soccer, one little girl in ballet, and two big girls who can’t make up their minds.
And one mama who will start this school year with great plans and promises for this year to be better than last year.
Change is good.
I woke up with Thad this morning and I watched him go through the motions of his morning. Walk Tanner, feed him, jump in the shower, grab breakfast and read the bible. But something was different today.
Maybe he is aware of the coming changes, too.
He called late this afternoon and his voice was different. I could hear a smile through the phone line. His meeting went well at lunch and he has lunch meetings scheduled everyday for the rest of the week.
Pure joy in the movement of God.
Pure peace in the midst of great change.
