It is 10:39 and there are 6 little voices still whispering upstairs. I think I even hear legos clinking together. I have seen more than one flashlight beam stream down the stairs. Twelve little feet are still tip-toeing in the hallway and quiet laughter keeps erupting from all of those little people.
Thad just looked at me from across the family room and smiled a knowing smile: Our family is turning a corner.
The kids are upstairs living the lives of college students who have just moved into old dorm rooms. The girls are still decorating their spaces and the boys have pulled out the sleeping bags because they are learning that bunk beds are too hard to make up in the morning. They all have assigned towels in unique colors. They share a common bathroom at the end of the hall. These children are turning our old house into a home.
Tonight, the late night laughter, the clinking legos, and flashlights are joyous sights and sounds. The Lord is here. We are where we are supposed to be and our kids are going to be fine.
