Cinnamon creamed honey, Cackalacky coffee, fresh picked strawberries, warm boiled peanuts, and God’s faithfulness…need I write anything more??
In a continual effort to fall in love with our community, we spent the day visiting our local farmer’s market. The Rocky Mount farmer’s market is only one mile from our home on Avent street and is an absolute showcase of our local artisans: basket weavers, bee keepers, gardeners, bakers, soap makers, and local fishermen. Our community even has its own coffee roaster. The Lord knows how to melt my heart and today it was through fresh coffee beans. I fell in love at the farmer’s market!
After lunch, we headed out to a local strawberry patch to pick berries and to get a few pictures. The kids had a great time and I had fun trying to capture at least one memory for our drawer of pictures. (I keep them in a drawer because I don’t have time to scrapbook!) We picked 12 pounds of berries and stained a pile of clothes. We also made a memory and began a tradition…in our new community.
On the drive home, kids sunburned and stained with strawberries, I realized that I was making mental plans to do it all again next Saturday.
God is faithful and there is great JOY in seeing His faithfulness in the smallness of my life. He was at the farmer’s market with fresh coffee beans. He was at the farm with rows and rows of juicy strawberries. He was also in my car wooing me with the prospect of getting to do it again. I have been concerned with the big moments of my life and not concerned enough with the daily moments that show me the character of God. He loves me and desires for me to find great JOY in this town called Rocky Mount. He is letting Thad and I in on His plan to restore what has been lost here. He is giving us an invitation to follow and showing His goodness along the way.
Lucky for me, the Lord knows I love coffee and there is plenty of that at the farmer’s market!
